Dessert is so good

El Estrebe- Friendly Steakhouse

Peña 2475, Recoleta, Buenos Aires 4803-0282

I wanted to stray away from the touristic steak spots, so I decided on this local recommended place for a quiet evening. Walking in, I realized this was the perfect choice. The restaurant was small, clean light interior, no more than 20 tables, and super-friendly service. After realizing it was my other half’s birthday, we were showered by the restaurant with free champagne to start, more champagne to follow and a cake on top of the dessert that we already ordered. Burp. With the mountain of food: the melted provoleta cheese, chorizo, steak with fries, half a bottle of wine and dessert. The bill: 180 pesos ($45).

Steak Critic: We loved the Bife de Lomo and the chorizo, and of course who doesn’t love melted cheese?

  • intimate ambiance
  • friendly service
  • food overall is good; one order of steak big enough for 2~3
  • very affordable prices, especially when portions are big

  • nothing special about the chimichurri side sauces
  • okay bread basket
  • dessert was good and fatty, though nothing spectacular
